Ethiopia Aweday, a small town famous for its export of a narcotic chewing substance called “Chat”, is totally Islamic. Recently after praying and fasting for three days a small team of short term missionary students ventured into this hostile place. They shared the gospel one to one and prayed for the healing of an insane man. A week later four students returned to continue sharing Christ. They were arrested and thrown into prison where they shared the Good News with the prisoners. Eight Prisoners were converted. After their release the students returned home and received news two weeks later that another six people had placed their faith in Christ and a small underground church had been established.

Indonesia discipleMAKER is a ministry seeking to raise up and train 250 new church planters. Church planters are working in Yogjakarta, Central Java which is mainly Muslim. In a region near Palu, Central Sulawesi, ten churches have been planted among the nomadic animist Wana people. Nine students from the Wana are now training as church planters.
PNG Tertiary Students Christian Fellowship (TSCF) discipled young men and women who now serve in both public and private sectors of PNG. Since 1966, when TSCF was first introduced at the University of Papua New Guinea, it has grown to be in 130 secondary & tertiary institutions. Graduate chapters are now being established to support graduates as they enter the work force. On average the ministry sees over 1000 conversions each year.

China The State Administration for Religious Affairs has issued new rules on financial accounting requiring all “religious institutions” to hire accountants and file annual financial reports. The rules are aimed at preventing embezzlement and the misappropriation of public funds which will enable the government to better supervise the finances of the nation’s 130,000 religious institutions.

Japan Christ Bible Institute has begun a 90 day prayer campaign for gospel impact in the country. CBI wants to purchase a new campus in downtown Nagoya where teenage prostitution is widely practiced and suicide rates are highest.  Japanese are the second largest unreached people group in the world with evangelicals being less than 0.25% of the population.
